Charity came to yoga while she was serving in the US Navy in 2011. She had just experienced divorce and was transferred to Jacksonville without her two children. An avid runner, she logged an obscene number of miles trying to combat the stress which beat up her body and only gave her short periods of mental relief. When she started attending yoga she had a powerful physical practice and noticed that she began to feel peace. She kept going back. It wasn’t until later that she realized instead of literally trying to run away from her problems and pushing her physical yoga practice to the edge it was the internal peace, gratitude, and self-acceptance she found in yoga that really gave her life back.

Over the last few years of healing from numerous injuries, she has fallen in love with practicing and teaching meditation, pranayama, and mindful practices like restorative yoga, chair yoga, prenatal yoga and a slower vinyasa flow that really allow her and her students to feel how the body feels in each pose. Creating a safe space and leading workshops for her students to develop the connection back to the self is very important aspect of her teaching.

Charity holds a BA in Music Education and MA in Human Resource Development. She has developed a “stretch and refresh” workshop specifically for musicians and is an avid proponent for bringing yoga to our military members and families. Her goal for the Nook is to create a safe place where everyone can enjoy practicing yoga and grow as individuals while creating a community where we can share our unique gifts and love of life.
